Barni Goudi is the woodworking practice of Los Angeles–based artist and photographer Brian Guido, who has made work as a photographer for the last twenty years and began his exploration of tangible objects in 2021. Born in Detroit and largely self-taught as a woodworker, Brian works out of a shared community wood shop where informal classes and the exchange of knowledge among members have played an essential role in the development of his craft.

Brian’s practice focuses on domestic objects—useful, sustainably produced forms that foreground the tactility, warmth, and irregular beauty of wood. He primarily works with domestic species, salvaged material, and off-cuts discarded from other makers’ projects, viewing these remnants not as waste but as opportunities for reimagined utility. His background in photography continues to shape his approach: the places, people, and subjects he has encountered through the camera frequently surface in the sensibility of his objects, informing their tone, proportion, and quiet personality.
